Glenda Luck’s new chamber opera scene, CHRISTOS, receives its world premiere with CU NOW — the CU New Opera Workshop, one of the foremost academic contemporary opera programs in the United States.

Set on a narrow pedestrian street in a Greek fishing village on an island in the Cyclades, CHRISTOS tells the story of a 14-year-old Romani beggar boy, a street cat, a wandering monk, and an American tourist — four souls converging under the summer moon, each searching and longing for something just out of reach.

Scored for four voices (mezzo-soprano, soprano, tenor, baritone) and piano.
